5 Quick Tips for Transitioning your Interiors for Spring

Source: Finn.no

We’re feeling all of this recent warm weather here in Wisconsin! Though we’re crossing our fingers that we won’t get hit with another snowstorm this year (you just never know in this state), we can’t help but start to think of the fresh springtime possibilities for our homes. Cozy candlelit winters nights are wonderful for a few months, but there’s something about sunshine that makes us want to refresh the places in which we live.

When we say refresh, we aren’t suggesting an all out overhaul of your interiors. This isn’t the time to max out your credit card at your local antique shop (we recommend saving for a piece you truly love instead of making impulse buys!). Instead, we have a few quick tips that can have a big impact in your home, and make you feel like spring has truly sprung.

5 Tips for Transitioning Your Interiors for Spring

1- Pack away thick blankets

Dense knits are lovely in the wintertime, adding both design and functionality to your most lived-in rooms. However, once the weather begins to warm up, it’s nice to pack them away in storage until next year, and bring out thinner linen throws or even spruce up your furniture with a set of slightly brighter pillows. Simply removing design elements that add a lot of weight and heft to your room can make you feel lighter and ready for the transition to spring.

2- Bring in a new fragrance

Scent packs so much power, and is an underrated way to change up the feel of your home in a new season. While we love spicy, deep winter scents, spring is a time for a new beginning, and so, a new fragrance.

This season, we’re loving lush, nearly tropical scents that are fragranced with essential oils. Think pomegranate, vetiver, and even something greener like tomato. If everything smells fresh and natural, you’re halfway there to a springtime transition. No Bad Days Candle is our new Fav for Spring, the scent notes Grapefruit and Mint!

3- Brighten up with fresh florals

In addition to lighting a new candle or two, stop by your local florist or farmer’s market and pick up a bouquet of florals that are in season. You can arrange them in a vase at home, and add a pop of living design to any room that needs a pick-me-up.

4- Hang a new piece of art

The art that you choose to hang in your home does not need to be permanent. We look at interiors as a constantly evolving project, and we like to use a the start of a new season to switch out prints our adjust our gallery walls to reflect what’s happening in nature. Lighter and brighter works of art are incorporated, or we’ll even press a few budding flowers into a frame to hang on the wall. We have some many beautiful new prints in all sizes and colors, we are sure to have one that breathes a little spring into your space!

5- Rearrange furniture

If you just can’t quite figure out what’s not working, try moving your furniture into a new layout. Switching around your loveseat or that oversized armchair can give you an updated perspective, or a new design idea. With new “bones” to work with, you’ll start spring on a high note and open up all kinds of new opportunities for your home.
