Small businesses are always on my mind, but especially this season. As an entrepreneur myself, I’m constantly considering the ways in which COVID-19 could affect my business and my customers, but, as an active member of the Stoughton community, I’m also aware of how new suggestions from our state government could impact my fellow business owners on Main Street.
Governor Evers released an executive order on November 10th encouraging Wisconsinites to stay home if possible, to essentially engage in a self lockdown. I understand the importance of slowing the spread, of stopping our numbers from getting higher before we find ourselves in a worse situation than before.
Our local community wants to act in the best interest of our customers. Throughout the pandemic, shops here in Stoughton have gone above and beyond to create safe protocols while maintaining the strength of our local economy.
This holiday season, consider using your holiday budget at shops and local businesses who feel the impact of your dollars, who invest back into the community that you are so proud of. Shop online and have items shipped
Our online store was recently revamped, with so many more goodies added to our digital inventory. You can browse through your favorite items and gifts to give like candles, skincare, paper goods, and vintage apparel, and have your purchases shipped right to your door. Convenient, quick, and, on top of that, isn’t it fun to receive a package in the mail anyway?
Shop online and pick up your items in store
If you’re in the neighborhood, you can still take advantage of our online shop but avoid shipping costs by picking up your gifts of choice in store. We’ve created a process that is essentially contactless, allowing you to grab the unique items that you’ve come to love from Dune and stay safe while you’re at it.

You still have the option to shop in-store at Dune! We have implemented new guidelines to make this possible while taking into account your health and safety:
6 persons in store at a time
6 foot distance is mandatory
Masks are mandatory
Hand sanitizer upon entry is mandatory.
We clean and sanitize surfaces and check out areas constantly throughout the day.
Contactless checkout.
And, this should go without saying, but please respect others’ safety as well. Don’t go out if you feel sick!

Finally, we’ve added the option to have items custom-listed on our digital store that may not appear there today, or to schedule a virtual shopping appointment. A member of our team will walk through the shop with you (digitally!) and showcase the special items that we have displayed. It’s almost like a personal shopping experience with a team who understands interior design, and has a thorough knowledge of our inventory. You might just be able to get first dibs on a piece that is brand new to the shop floor!
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced everyone to adjust plans, be flexible, and field some disappointments. Though we wish we could see you all in the shop, we know that, by following guidance from scientists and experts, we’ll be back in full force soon enough.
