Local Event: Art Walk Stoughton

Stoughton is such an incredible place to live and work. While our neighboring city, Madison, is known for its commitment to independent shops and its thriving art scene, Stoughton seems to get little recognition for its equally supportive community.

Art Walk Stoughton is looking to change that. This little Norwegian city is set to host 24 local artists and makers this September 28th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The event aims to bring out the town and create some exposure for artists in the surrounding area. Main Street will be jam packed with people interested in learning more about local artisans, and even purchase a few pieces.

You’ll want to be one of them.

This year marks the third annual Art Walk Stoughton, and the event has already made a major name for itself in the community. This curated walk highlights artists displaying and selling jewelry, sculpture, pottery, photography, paintings, and more. Not only does it feature artists and makers, but it’s also a great platform for musicians!

So, how is Dune involved in Art Walk Stoughton? The gallery experience actually calls on local shopkeepers, historic landmarks, and business owners to open their doors to the participating artists, providing stunning spaces for them to showcase their work.

We are ecstatic to be involved with Art Walk Stoughton this year as a featured location.

The artist that we’re teaming up with is…drum roll please… Linda Lindner of Terra Domus Tile

Here’s how Terra Domus Tile describes their work:

Terra Domus Design Group is devoted to handcrafting tile for unique artscapes in homes and businesses. Employing ancient methods and green elements, our tile provides classic foundations with the aesthetics of old and new Milwaukee.

Art tile installations are our forte, although we also make handmade tiles with an eye to the perfectly imperfect. Unlike mass-produced manufactured tiles, Terra Domus infuses the meditation and musings of each maker to produce tile with a soul. Whether the installation is a small backsplash or the length of a restaurant bar, each facet of the project is developed with care and artistry from initial sketch to installation.

The work that they’ll have available in Dune Gift + Home during Art Walk Stoughton ranges from $20 - $500, a reasonable price range for the beautiful work that they create. Depending on what you’re looking for (anything from an art tile to a custom mosaic), you’re sure to find something that fits your budget. No matter what, we recommend coming out to Dune on September 28th to meet Linda and speak with her about her work. This is your chance to connect with a local maker and pick her brain!

Have any questions about the event? You can send Cire’ a DM on Instagram at @dune_giftandhome, and she’ll fill you in with all of the details.

Art Walk Stoughton 2019 is sure to be the best one yet, and we can promise you that you won’t want to miss it! We can’t wait to see your face in the shop at the end of September.
